XR in action: Varjo XR-1
Varjo’s XR-1 headset is unique in that it is a true mixed reality device - which can blend full Virtual Reality with full Augmented reality - currently (as at April 2020), no other headset can do this - and may well be the future of what today’s headsets will become.
Not only does this headset mix the two technologies seamlessly well, it has extremely high resolution displays - so much so, that it makes it very difficult to discern between what is real and what is virtual.
The video below shows some work that Varjo are doing with Volvo automotive in demonstrating their vehicles for potential customers.
The following video with Volvo again shows how the XR-1 can be used to augment vehicle interiors and options against the real world.
This demonstration shows how high fidelity the device is by the driver still being able to drive the car while wearing the headset (viewing the road through the headsets internal displays).
